VS 2003 with Crystal

I don't know why this is so hard, but I can't seem to find a good
example with VS 2003 and Crystal Reports. The downloadable examples from
Business Objects (formerly Crystal Decisions) don't seem to work
properly.

After I assign the control source, I can get the report to populate in
design view, but when "Run without debugging" it just shows a form with
the gray crystal report control on it that indicates to assign a control
source which I already did. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
