Logging in .NET

Hello MVPs and Folks,
I am curious to know what logging mechanism currently .NET provides and what
is in the cards for the coming versions of Whidbey and ...
Can I have some configurable leves to ignore depending on the current
setting.

I am used to log4J and I want to know the solution inherent to .NET before
exploring the possibilities with log4net and likes.

Any repsonse will be greatly appreciated.

TIA
