Accessing Exchange Mailbox

Does anyone know how to access the number of messages in a
mailbox from c# or VB? (or any other method really). The
number i'm looking for is the number shown in Exchange
2003 System Manager when you look at the mailboxes. I can
get the total size, but cannot find any information on
getting the number of messages.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,
Deron Thaxton
