Converting applet from j++ to c# - getAppletContext? Browser interop?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently converting an applet from j++ to a c# as a User Control. I
need to be able to trigger the browser it's embedded within to navigate to a
different page (away from the User Control) or open a url in a new target.
Is there a way to do this? I'm thinking maybe I can get the UserControl's
parent (which should be IE) and then somehow invoke this behavior through
jscript/DOM code, but I can't figure out how. I can see in the future that
I'd need other ways to interact with the browser...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
