Clipboard.SetDataObject?

Hi - the following code simply doesn't work:

Clipboard.SetData((string)ienum.Current)

where ienum is the enumerator gained from an ArrayList. I've checked in debug mode and ienum.Current is definitely a valid string at this point, however it never makes it to the clipboard. Compiling this in the IDE gave me an assertion previously when I didn't have [STAThread] on, but when compiled from the command line it didn't give me any indication that this was a problem, even though fixing this didn't solve it anyway.
I've now got no other option to write this in C++, which seems to be capable of setting clipboard data successfully.

Any help much appreciated.
