I'm not explaining myself correctly

My apologies.

In my previous post, I asked about combining strings. The problem is
that the strings I pass in are not what will be coming back.

Let's say that I pass a given function the string "A". That function
will check a hashtable to see if it contains a key name A.0 through A.n
and return to me an arraylist containing 0 or more entries (1 for each
key found).

I want to take the returned arraylist and to each element (if any),
append "B" passing that to the function I mentioned in the first
paragraph. So effectively, I'll be looking for A.0.B.0 through A.0.B.n.

To complicate the issue, I have a given number of suffixes that I want
to append to the end of each entry found above:

A.0.Suffix[1-4] through A.n.Suffix[1-4]

The previous answers were helpful but I neglected to describe this added
level of complexity and I'm stuck yet again.
