License Manager

Hello All,
Iam trying to build a License manager for our tool
(developed in C# on .NET).
I tried looking up on the net and I did find 3rd party
tools, but I did not find any algorithms for implementing
one.I wonder how the licenses are implemented for
commercial software avaialable .
Any resources and pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Suresh
