differences between C# (and .Net) model and C, C++ model

Are there any sites that explain some technical differences between C# (or
..Net in general) and C or C++? By this, I'm referring to the way they
compile and how they run (not the language syntax).

A good example would be how C# manages the execution of user code and how it
differs with C. Or how traditional compilers target a specific processor,
while .Net compilers don't. Any other examples and webpages with information
would be helpful.

Thank you,
Angel
