User Controls

I am having trouble with the following. Any help/insight
is welcome:

I have a User Control that contains multiple DropDownList
controls (as well a others but I will start here). It is a
control that will be used on about 20 pages and used to
create query parameters for a SQL where clause.

My problem is

1. I have a group of 4 DropDownList controls whose values
are filtered based on a user selection of the previous
control.

DDL1's value is selected and passed to DDL2...etc.

I can get this to work. However I start having issues when
I encounter my second problem.

2. The controls have so much data that I get
maximunlength exceeded HTTPException. Therefore I have set
enabledviewstate to false and need to pass everything
around in session variables.

The problem with this is the timimg of the User Control
Events firing and the apsx events firing. I can't seem to
get the delete/event code to work.

I have read several sites on the how to but I just can't
seem to get it to work.

Any help out there?
