Removing namespace from xml serialization.

I am serializing an object in .net using XmlSerializer, and doesn't
matter what I try, I cannot get rid of the namespaces. Irrespective of
whether it is academically correct or not, how can I get rid of all
namespaces during serialization?
e.g. XML that needs to be optimized:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<SomeElement xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" length="0">
<Data />
</SomeElement>
