Assigning a TypeConverter to a type I didn't create

Hello,
I'd very much like to assign a TypeConverter to a struct (a Vector3
actually) that is out of my control. So (as far as I know) adding a custom
attribute of type TypeConverterAttribute isn't an option.

Is there some other way to assign my own custom TypeConverter to the type?

Many thanks in advance.
Lovin' the metadata,
Rob
