How do i comunicate to a device via IRDA.

Is the irda socket based api for windows platform specific ..the dotnet
framework (non-compact :)) doesnot seem to support IRDA based
communication.Can any one give me a few hinters as to how to achive this...

no, there isn't
AFAIK on Windows >= 5.0 IrDA is using COMs(i mean ports)
try to find the way to communicate with COMs
