How to remove a node (c#)?

I have a basic XML file which look something like this...

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<newsitem>
<item url="http://www.dk.com">Word up</item>
<item url="west">jof</item>
<item url="http://www.somewhere.com">System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextB ox</item>
<item url="Forrester">Phillipa </item>
<item url="Rugby">Colchester</item>
<item url="http://www.microsoft.com">Simple Simon</item>
<item url="http://www.water.com">Toilet Water</item>
</newsitem>

I have managed to append nodes using the XMLDocumentFragment
collection but how do I remove a specific node?

So the code loops through the file looking for any node that has an
'URL' attribute of 'west' for example?

Is there a simple way to do this? I find the Microsoft XML
documentation extremely confusing!
