What programs to start with ?

I am (like many here I read) still quite new to C#.

I meticulously try the examples in the book I use and found some tutorials
online.
Somehow (and this becomes a dejavu, from the time I tried mastering Delphi)
the gap between doing these separate assignments (many in Console
Applications) and creating a full-fledged Windows Application proves too
big. I keep stalling and gettin lost in a myriad of errors and messy code as
a result that does not come close to doing what I want it to.

Does this sound familiar to you ? What have you done to overcome this and
bridge the gap ? Is there a better place to start ? An 'ideal' app to start
with (regardless of whether it has been built by others before, it's the
learning I'm interested in) perhaps?

The Hello World apps and simple Class examples are not that exciting to
build on. Any directions ? Tips ? Prayers for me ? :)

Thanks people! I count on you!

Try to check out the following:

--"Walkthroughs" in MSDN Library (http://msdn.microsoft.com)
--.NET Framework SDK Documentation
-- http://www.csharp-station.com/Tutorial.aspx
-- http://www.codeproject.com

The've got heaps of simple tutorials and excellent materials

Hope this helps! :D
