Strange Form load behaviour

I have a form called frmThes which I instantiate like this:

frmthes = new FrmThesaurus();
frmthes.ShowDialog();

what happens is that the form loads very good the first time but on the
second etc ... the form loads with the interface semi white in colour as if
something is happening before the form loads , then after a few seconds
everything is normal. I don't have any thing in the load event, however when
I use the following:

frmthes = new FrmThesaurus();
frmthes.Show();

everything loads fine, no semi white interface .
