Hi!

Is there any free port of ZLib and BZip?
I know only SharpZipLib project but it is under GNU license.

TIA,
Andrew

SharpZipLib is licensed *partly* under the GNU license.

"Bottom line In plain English this means you can use this library in
commercial closed-source applications."

See http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSourc...b/Default.aspx for
more info.

Is your understanding that you can compile the source into your managed code
and not have to GNU license. If you do compile the source into your project
(i.e. not a seperate dll) what do you need to say or ship with your product?
Thanks

There is a much appreciated specified exception to the GNU license for
#ZipLib. See attached PDF. As I understand it, it allows the distribution of the compiled library, without requiring the combined work to be under the
GNU license. However, read it for yourself.
