Pushing the .Net Runtime

Maybe it's just my imagination, but I don't really see Microsoft pushing the
..Net runtime out there... you'd think they'd be including it in every
download and new product they ship. How are people going to have Internet
downloadables written using .Net if the user has to also find, download and
install the .Net framework also??

It's part of XP SP1. It is on windows update. It is shipped with W2K3
(32-bit version). They haven't shipped any other new products that I
know of? What do you want?

they could be pushing it a bit more but that might be bad on their lawsuits
with sun over java and on their monopoly suits as well. I was too very upset
at the begining that they werent pushing it but as early as january I did
some stats over the visitors to my work place and over 30% of the winxp
users had .NET alreayd, and that was back in january, I guess a bunch of
people did the autmatic updates or download every update they see. It is
true that the runtime was on the winxp SP1 but as an optional package for
people who ordered the cdrom as far as I know.
