Datagrid sorting by date?

Is there a way to properly sort by date (not string) in a datagrid?
The date is shoved into a DataGridTextBox Column type, which seems to be
the only alternative. Then is sorts by string instead of date.

Thanks,
Brett

Hello Brett,

You need realize wrapper class that implements IComparable.
Here is a sample: http://groups.google.com/group/micro...8c0aff2a96be6e

Thanks. Does .NET 2.0 DataGridView have a date column type built in?

I've read about this issue in many articles across the net... But haven't found a solution. I see all kinds of custom code to perform sorting with datagrids, but my example is so simple, I must just be missing something. Basically, I have a .aspx page that is very simple and has a simple datagrid. All code is in the .cs page for the datagrid (hence, I'm doing all datagrid work programmatically). The datagrid is populated from a SQL table...

I have just written my first page with a datagrid that allows ASC and DESC sorting. But I want to know how I can get it so that the header shows the type of sorting that has just been done on it (i.e. Column1 DESC). Also I would need to be able to remove this from the last column that was sorted on so that it now says just Column2. <%@ Page Language="C#" ContentType="text/html" ResponseEncoding="iso-8859-1" %> <%@ Import...

Hi, can anyone tell me how to store my Datagrid list in a viewstate? (or where I can get such info , I looked everywhere with no luck) This is not for sorting. The problem I'm having is the following: 1) On a specific screen, the user selects a from date and a to date and submits 2) A DataGrid appears with a list of orders based on his dates.

Does anyone know the sort expression for a column that's data has been returned in the format, eg '07 Jul 05'?? The sort expression {..:"dd mmm yy"} doesn't work ( if the column was returned as '07-Mar-05' the expression {..:dd-MMM-yy} works OK Second question, does anyone know hwo to return a date from SQL server in the format '07-Mar-05', as this would be a workaround. At the moment I'm using CONVERT(varchar(12),columnname,6 ) to...

Hi, I am trying to figure out why my datagrid has stopped firing the page and sort commands. Scenario: I originally had template columns in my datagrid and had set up custom bi-directional sorting as well as paging of the datagrid records.

I have a sample of an unbound (autogeneratecolumns is true) sortable/pagable datagrid that works. I want to change one of the columns to a hyperlink. The examples I find use a bound column. I can get this to work; however, the column header on the datagrid is not a link/sortable. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

Hi I have a question which I hope you can help with. I am setting the DataSource of a DataGrid to be a DataView. I am sorting the DataView by various fields which include a Date. When I create a new row in the DataGrid and set the date to me within the current sort range, the newly created row "jumps" to its correct position in the grid. This obviously makes sense because it is following the sort rule.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
