DirectoryServic es problem enumerating properties

I'm trying to write a custom installer for a web site project of mine
because the silly default WebInstaller projects don't know how to install
to anything other than the default web site... (if this is wrong, please
tell me!) So I'm trying to enumerate the web sites that exist on the local
machine with DirectoryServic es:

DirectoryEntry root = new DirectoryEntry( "IIS://localhost/W3SVC");

foreach(Directo ryEntry de in root.Children)
{
foreach(string pName in de.Properties.P ropertyNames)
{
Console.WriteLi ne(
string.Format(" {0} = {1}",
pName,
de.Properties[pName].Value
)
);
}
}

This works great on my development machine, but when I move to a machine
that I would actually install on (Small Business Server 2003), I get an
"NotSupportedEx ception" with a message of "The directory cannot report the
number of properties".

Anyone know why I'm getting this exception? Anything I can do about it?
Is there any other way to reliably enumerate web sites?

Hi, We have a component that we've used successfully under W2000 to create virtual directories on an IIS 5.0 web server. We're in the process of upgrading to W2003 and I'm now encountering an exception when trying to create the IIS virtual directory. The component is .net, v 1.14 and is using System.DirectoryServices. The code that does the work is:

I figured I'd start this post on the .NET general forum instead of the ADSI forum but feel free to nudge me along if I am looking in the wrong place. I am working with System.DirectoryServices to connect up to Active Directory and make a couple of queries. The trouble starts as soon as I attempt to compile this thing. I receive "Type 'System.DirectoryServices.SearchResultCollection' has no constructors." from the following code. ...

Hi, This question may seem a bit academic... To learn more about Access VBA, I have been enumerating the properties of various form controls. This was mostly successful and I have learned a lot from the process. It occurred to me that I could also enumerate the properties of the ADO Recordset in similar fashion, expecting to get back known properties such as AbsolutePosition, BOF, EOF, Filter, Sort, etc. I inserted the following

Hi All.... I'm having a HECK of a time connecting to Active Directory using VB in Visual Studio.NET 2003. Can anyone PLEASE help me? All I am trying to do is list the current members of our Active Directory on a web page. If I can connect to the AD interfaces, then I think I can handle it from there. I do have a VS.NET C# project successfully working and enumerating names,

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
