Remote Objects hosted in IIS problem..

I keyed in the example for MS Knowledgebase Article:

Remoting Example: Hosting in Internet Information Services (IIS)
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/c2swb8ah.aspx

It works for the most part, however I run across 1 glitch I caught in a
try / catch block:

//
// Code Section on ServerClass.cs:
//

// Use the HttpContext to acquire what IIS thinks the client's identity
is.
string temp = HttpContext.Cur rent.User.Ident ity.Name;

//
// Error that surfaces when method is called:
//

System.NullRefe renceException: Object reference not set to an instance
of an object.

It's basically throwing on the "HttpContext... " portion. This is all
on my LocalHost box. I haven't bumped it up to a Remote Server yet.

Any ideas why this exception is thrown, and how I might be able to fix
it?

I have a .net remoting client hosted in IE (with object tag). This client takes a looong time (2 minutes) when it calls one of the remote function for the first time (I think .net remoting really connects to remote server on the first remote funtion call). This problem doesn't happen if the client is an ordinary application (windows form or...

A current requirement I am facing is the all business objects be stateless remote components hosted in IIS. I am partial to web services myself. However, it is insisted that IIS hosted remoting be used. They insist that it is much, much faster. I don’t necessarily disagree with that point. But under the circumstances, a web service that...

I've found a way that works on the web, and I'm trying to get it to also work in debug mode in the IDE. The "on the web" page and my SQL database...

Hi, we're developing some web services and use the local development server of Visual Studio 2005 to create, run and debug the project. The web service methods connect to a database hosted on a dedicated server and the Microsoft CRM 3.0 server, also on a separate machine. As the CRM server installation makes changes to the Active Directory,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
