There are 3 different application icons used in different places:

1) The one on the window itself which must be set by property
2) The two! icons in the single App.ico file

The 2 icons in the App.ico file are 2 different sizes (32x32 & 16x16) used
at diferent times - the usual problem is that you only changed or provided
one size. The context menu in the icon editor allows you to switch or add
new sizes

Of course once you have sorted App.ico you will probably want to use it in
the window - I don't know why VS doesn't do this automatically for you

Another possible problem is that App.ico is purely a VS convenience so if
you are not using VS to build it will not work.

Apologies in advance for the long post - I wanted to be sure I included all the relevant details. The answer is probably very, very simple. I am doing something stupid here, but I don't know what it is. I'm writing an application with a Tkinter GUI (Python 2.4, Tcl/Tk 8.4.) and I want to put a custom icon on the main window. I've followed (so far as I understand it) the recipe in the eff-bot's splendid Introduction to Tkinter - see:...

I am in the process of developing a Windows Service which will: (1) monitor multiple network shares; (2) marshal text file transfers into an SQL Server 2000 instance; and (3) provide messaging services via email and a customized event log viewer. An additional goal is to have the service provide a visual status indicator via an icon to be located in the Taskbar status area. The NotifyIcon component appears to be a logical candidate and worked...

Is there a way to change the default icon for a window to be the application icon? It's just that if you create a new window you have to remember to go in and set the icon where it would be nice if it defaulted to the application icon. TIA - Jeff.

Hello, I am working on C# using vs.net 2003. I have faced two interesting problems. 1. Dynamically setting Default Button: I created a form and used it in various contexts. On basis of the context, the panel of a form which contains various buttons , are shown or hides. Now at design time i set the default button property to one of button. But when the form object is created in different context and set visibilty of default

I have a Windows application that previously had the company logo "MyCompany.ico" added to the upper left-most corner. The company has since issued a new version of "MyCompany.ico" that looks completely different. I overwrote the old ico file with the new ico file and re-ran the program. I still see the old logo at run-time. I right-clicked the project-> Add Existing Item-> added the new ico file. I set the build action to Embedded...
