Using %SystemRoot% in path variables

Is there a way to use wildcards such as %SystemRoot% in a path that I pass to
a string variable for consumption in a method parameter?

Example:

string wmipath = @"%SystemRoot%\ System32\WBEM\R epository"

Thanks in advance.

One way to expand such variable is the
Environment.Exp andEnvironmentV ariables method.

Hope that helps,
Thi

When I execute this SQL statement in my PHP code, I get an error "File '.\Address.txt' not found (Errcode: 2)" $File = addslashes(".\Address.txt"); $SQL = "Load Data InFile \"" . $File . "\" into table addresses"; $result = mysql_query($SQL) or die(mysql_error()); The file is located in the same directory as my .PHP file. How do I generate a relative address for this file so that it can be found?

I would like to print the variables (input) on the screen , but I can't make it work. I think I have to do something with an array, but don't know what. I've tried $field = $_POST; echo $field;

I am trying to set a new environment variable on a W2k machine with only partial success. The name("SSID") and value("ASIM") show up correctly in the registry and when I go to "System Properties"->Advanced->"Environment Variables". However, if I open a console and type 'set', "SSID" is not listed; also if I open a python shell and do os.environ the variable is not found. What am I doing wrong??? import _winreg

I've got a .BAT file that I use for executing various MS Access apps that I wrote way back in the days of 2.0. It's evolved over time, but it still contains a number of possible paths to MSACCESS.EXE, tries them all, takes the first one it finds, and dies if none is found. Seems to me like at some time or another I was able to clone this .BAT file and implement it with no path. Something about MSACCESS being a registered application.

We have written a small function to append a couple of paths to the path environmental variable. The code is: string PathValue = ""; string sAdd = ""; sAdd = ";" + <path1> + "Bin;" + <path2>; PathValue = System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("Path"); PathValue += sAdd;

I'm trying to use SystemRoot or any other directory reference to open a filestream, but instead I get an error saying that the directory the project is looking in is the path of the project's bin file with my path appended to it. Hard-coding the directory works perfectly. Can I use the directory references to open a filestream? If not, is there another way to do it? Thanks, Matt

I can execute the following code, and it correctly decodes the system folder string. FileVersionInfo versionInfo = FileVersionInfo.GetVersionInfo("%systemroot%\\system32\\xyz.dll"); But what I want to do is determine what the value is, so I can use it in my own string, such as this: String fileString = "%systemroot%\\system32\\xyz.dll"; Anyone know how to get the value of that filled in there? thx

Hello all, I am attempting to execute an automated test (written in Python) via cron. I have to check the HOSTNAME variable as part of the test, oddly under cron the HOSTNAME environment variable is not in the os.environ dictionary. I know that cron runs in a subshell that does not have all of the normally set environment variables. HOSTNAME is not one of those variables, it is set even in cron's subshell. Why doesn't python get...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
