ApplicationSett ingsBase, configuration and inherited classes

Hi,

I have inherited TaskSettings class from the ApplicationSett ingsBase
class and are able to get the configuration settings for this class
quite nicely in my windows app.
Now, if I inherit further from the TaskSettings class and create a
ServerTaskSetti ngs inherited class, the settings for the properties
defined in the TaskSettings class from the TaskSettings section in the
app.config are not applied to instances of the ServerTaskSetti ngs
class.
The settings for the ServerTaskSetti ngs properties defined in the
ServerTaskSetti ngs section are applied correctly.

This implies that for all TaskSettings inherited classes I would have
to copy all of the settings from base class's sections.

Is this behavior by design or am I doing something wrong?

Regards,

I have a need to make a set of classes that all share the same public methods, some implementation and some data. So, I made an abstract base (BaseClass) with an interface (IBaseClass) and a handful of inherited classes. The static method calls the ctor of the appropriate inherited class and returns it as type IBaseClass. There are no new...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...
