ComboBox TextChanged event has no effect...?

I want to validate the contents of a ComboBox, and if the user has chosen
one particular item ("Other"), change the text from "Other" to "Type

This doesn't seem to work. The even is firing but resetting the text has no
effect. What's going on?

Here's the situation... You've a combobox with Items already added. Say they look like this (or even lines of text): 10-00-232 10-00-256 10-01-006 10-01-213 10-02-200

G'day, After doing much searching and pinching bits of ideas from here there and everywhere I came up with a fairly 'clean' solution of including a comboBox into a dataGrid column. You can download a fully working C# sample with the Northwind.mdb here: www.insightgis.com.au/web/stuff/DataGridCombo.zip

How can I create a comboBox that will display the first item that begins with the group of letters I type? In my current combobox (it's a DropDownList), if I press the letters "S" and "A" consecutively, it'll display the first item that starts with "S" and then the first item that begins with "A". What can I do so that if I type those two letters, iit'll display the first item that starts with "SA". And if I then press "T", it'll display...

I need an event notification when the user types anything in the combobox textfield? I know about the TextChanged Event but the problem is this is also fired when the user selects an item in the combobox which updates the textfield, and there is no way of knowing what fired the event other then that it came from the combobox. I am guessing the only way to do this would involve the keyup & keydown events. How about if the user pastes...

I am having trouble using the ComboBox in my app. I am attempting to use the text from the ComboBox, to search the list box portion. However: In my "TextChanged" event: I cannot get the value of the entered text. Below is my code. private void cbEdit_TextChanged(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { bool bFound = false; string sText = cbEdit.Text; int iPosition = cbEdit.SelectionStart;

When you use a bound combobox and you set its dropdown style to "dropdown" that allows you to enter text in the edit box. But if you enter anything other than a value in the current bound items collection, the .text property does not update. Furthermore, you can't easily trap an event to examine the new value if your program assigns it programmatically as opposed to someone typing it in and tabbing away from it. That is, TextChanged does...

I have a form with two cboboxes with the DropDownStyle set to DropDown. When the form loads, it fills cboCategory1 with data. When the text of cboCategory1 changes (when an item in the list is selected or a new entry is made), cboCategory2 is supposed to fill with relevant categories: \\\ Private Sub cboCategory1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cboCategory1.TextChanged Dim a As Integer...

I currently have a combo box that will jump to a selection when the user inputs some text. The problem I am having is this. The 2-digit numerical values displayed in the combo box are padded with a leading zero if the number is less than 10. The problem with this is that if I try to input '01' I'll simply jump to a number that starts with a zero. If I try to put in '02' or '2', I get '20'. Is there something I'm missing here?

Greetings, I have to load 30,000 unique names into a combox. Filling a dataTable takes only a few milliseconds. But populating the combobox and displaying the list takes several seconds - way too long. A user selects a name from the combobox and runs a query. Originally, this combox was on a form in an MS Access ADP which was linked directly to our sql server. The combobox populated withins millisecnods. How can I achieve this...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
