Running code using another user context

Good Evening,

I Would like to know if is it possible to execute some code with another
user's context, of course, typing its username and password. I lnow its
possible in Visual Basic 6, but I would like to know how its possible in C#
or VB.net

Thanks a lot,

André.

Andre,

Check out the documentation on the static Impersonate method on the
WindowsIdentity class. It will have an example of how to logon using
another's credentials, and then run code under that user context.

Hope this helps.

I posted this a short while ago , but I don't think I explained the problem clearly. Task Manager lists processes running on a local system, including a "user name" associated with each process (e.g. SYSTEM). My application needs to check if a particular process is running, and if so get the associated "owner". I am really trying to determine the security context in which the process was started. Thanks for any input. -- Moses

We have a COM object that has been wrappered for use in .NET and which can make calls which can take a while to execute. These are mainframe integration calls that might perform a lot of data entry and gathering, returning the results to the ASP.NET caller. I have tried an AsyncPage class (implements IHttpAsyncHandler and uses custom thread pool class from DevelopMentor.ThreadPool -http://staff.develop.com/woodring); I have tried the...

Hi, Can anyone help. This is really doing my nut in. 3 years ASP exp. and now doing .DOT which is a step in the wrong direction. Basically I am left with the code of a guy who has left. When I click a button on a pop-up window the javascript for that button click does a 'button.form.submit'. On the Server side there is a Button click event for this button, but for some reason it no longer fires. It worked fine before and everything...

Hi, I'd like to make sure that only one instance of my app is running per User Session. In addition this has to work with user rights and in a Windows 2k/2k3 and Citrix Terminalserver environment. The code I'm using prevents the app from creating a second instance on a TS. What do I have to change?

Enterprise Library Jan 2006 with Visual Studio 2005 on Windows 2000 Server sp4. My custom exception formatter fails with a "Unable to handle exception: 'LoggingExceptionHandler'." exception. When I attached the debugger to the process and stepped into the code it executed without error. In both cases I was running a Debug build, the only difference in the case that works is that I attached the debugger to the same exact binaries....

Hello, I am working on C# using vs.net 2003. I have faced two interesting problems. 1. Dynamically setting Default Button: I created a form and used it in various contexts. On basis of the context, the panel of a form which contains various buttons , are shown or hides. Now at design time i set the default button property to one of button. But when the form object is created in different context and set visibilty of default

Hi all, I am running a VS 2003 .NET project on my client machine (Win 2000 SP4, ..NET framework 1.1), running an ASP.NET application on a remote web server (Win 2000 Server, IIS 6.0, .NET framework 1.1). The application implements a Progress Bar webcontrol, that pops up in a window, using the HttpHandler interface, on the event of a button click. The handler's process request routine reads the status of the progress by querying the...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
