When I compile my project using the IDE on a development machine it works just fine. When I compile it on the server using csc.exe, I get the following error when I try to bring it up in the web browser. What is the issue? According to "Developing Microsoft ASP.NET Server Controls and Components", a control can get the LoadPostData event by using RegisterRequiresPostBack, even if its UniqueID does not match that of the Forms collection. In the code below, I've tried doing this on a Page instead of a regular control. However, it doesn't work. The LoadPostData is never fired, even on postback. Does anyone have any idea why? How could I make it work for...

I've been constructing an ASP.Net application using the 1.1 framework, and have been using Web Matrix for development purposes. Now that my application is near completion, I wanted to see if I can set up my pages for access directly via localhost (not using the WebMatrix server). My login page loads, and any validation controls on the page work fine, so I know it's recognizing the ASP.Net code there, however, when I try to log on, the...

I'm trying to load a drop-down list with all DropDownList control names from another page. How would I be able to find those DropDownList controls? The FindControl method will only find a certain control by id, but I want to find all controls of a certain type (DropDownList in this case). Is there an easier way than to get a control count of the page, loop through all controls on that page, examine their type and, if they're a...

Hi All, In Visual Basic .NET , your function definition might requirre you to return a value but (accidently/intentionally) you dont put any 'return value' in the function. In this case VB Compiler does not generate any warning. Is there any way to make the compiler generate this and other obvious warnings, is there any switch, or still VB.NET development team assumes that

I'm investiging multi-threaded GUI applications; specifically the technique used to ensure that controls are only modified under the correct thread. The standard technique is to use if(InvokeRequired == true) ... BeginInvoke(...) ... I have some code that ensures that an event fired from a worker (non-GUI) thread will use the appropriate BeginInvoke call for synchronisation. By offloading the synchronisation onto the worker thread the...

Hi, The asp:EditCommandColumn template does not fire the _edit sutboutine when the edit command column buttons are clicked. I get a Page Cannot Be Displayed page error instead. My (ASP 1.1) datagrid is defined in the HTML and the HTML <columns> has one defined template column and it is an asp:EditCommandColumn (with edit buttons). The datagrid's other columns are added at runtime by using the technique documented in the MSDN article:

Here is my situation: I have an aspx file stored in a resource file. All of the C# code is written inline via <script runat="server"tags. Let's call this page B. I also have page A that contains some javascript code that calls window.open. I pass the resource url of page B to Page A's window.open call. Page B is then loaded and executed but none of the server-side code is rendered. If I view the source of the page, the code (and page...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
