User Controls and Navigation

I'm trying to get my content pages displayed with the navigation controls that are processed when Default.aspx is loaded. I thought the code below would process the following URL request like this-

default.aspx?ac tion=content&so urce=/homepage.html

default.aspx- processes the web user controls that contain the navigation menus, then include the homepage in an allocated table cell (HTML Table cell in default.aspx).

if

(Request.QueryS tring["action"] == "0")
{

Server.Execute( "default.aspx") ;

}
else
{
Server.Execute( Request.QuerySt ring["source"]);
}

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone, I've posted this question before, but got no answer, so I'll try to reformulate the question, maybe it helps :-) By the way, this is not intended as the start of an ASP.NET flamewar. Before looking at PHP, I've used ASP.NET extensively for about a year and some things that I like a lot about it : - Design and code can be easily kept separate.

Hello, I use a template whereby my default page contains various user controls - i.e. "Header", "Footer", "Navigation", "Content". On some occaisions I'd like to manipulate the other controls from the content control, without refreshing the default page. Currently, to change the content I refresh the default page by doing a response.redirect and referencing the new content page in the querystring. My default page includes the...

I have a site that has MANY different clothing categories. I have a page set up for displaying the products (productsearch.aspx) when a user clicks one of the category links on the navigation menu. I would like to have a different user control that gets loaded as a sub-header for each category (ie, tee shirts, shoes, backpacks, etc.) The category user controls include images and links to refined searches specific to each category. So...

Okay, as evidenced by other questions, I am an experienced programmer very new to ASP.NET. I have a vertical navigation bar. It is all one color with several panels inside it with a different color. It looks okay but I'm wondering if each of these several panels should be Web User Controls themselves. I think this would make sense, and I can figure out how to add a property that specifies the image that appears at the top of each of...

Hi, I've created a small application with some user-authentication and roles. I would like to show/hide some navigation parts based on the users role. Could someone please tell me what the best solution is? Do I have to create different pages for each role and check the users role when logged in?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
