Signing ClickOnce Manifest

I am trying to deploy an application using ClickOnce. Everything is working
fine except one thing. During the initial install the user is prompted to
install the application from an "unknown publisher".

My assumption is that this happens because I've signed my ClickOnce manifest
with a temporary key, thus causing the client to not trust the application.

Since we use Active Directory (2003), I would think that I could get a
certificate from our Certificate Authority that I could use to sign the
manifest and have it trusted by all the computers on our domain. (This
application is totally internal.)Howev er, I am not an Active Directory expert
so I don't even know what to ask our SysAdmins for.

Any help getting me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello, I have the Microsoft Authenticode certificates (PKCS #7 Certificates, .spc and .pvk files) acquired from Verisign. How do I use this certificates to Sign the manifest for ClickOnce deployment. IDE accepts only .pfx files. Importing in Internet Explorer and exporting back doesn't seem like an option. Any advice? Regards, Sajan

I am trying to understand the difference between signing ClickOnce manifests and signing shared assemblies. My company is building .Net 2005 WinForm applications for internal company use only. Currently, the ClickOnce security settings on the applications is set for "Full Trust". We are using shared assemblies across development groups, but none of these assemblies are signed with strong names since signing assemblies is only required when...

I have a SmartClient/ClickOnce app that needs to be deployed to a whole bunch of sites. The app.config would have to be different for each site. I am trying to do this in an automated manner (by calling MSBuild). So MSBuild builds and publishes the app - in the process it takes all the files and creates a hash. The problem is that the hash would be different for every site (since app.config is different). Is there a utility (or an...

Hello, I would like to use ClickOne but we need to stagger our update process. Currently we are shipping cd's when it is time for an update. We stagger the release in waves of 250 each so our clients do not overwhelm our support staff with loading questions and new feature questions. ClickOnce will elininate the CD cost and the loading questions but that still does not take care of the calls for new feature questions. I would like to...

If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it: I have an assembly into which I have linked a manifest file as a Win32 resource. This is necessary since I want to use a class in this assembly with registration-free COM interop from a Win32 application. I also want to use this assembly with a .Net application that I want to deploy using ClickOnce. However when I try to install the application from the deployment location I get...

Hi, We have developed a VSTO 2005 Excel application and we would like to leverage ClickOnce deployment mechanism for distribution of this application. How can we do that? I was digging in MSDN for VSTO & ClickOnce documentation and did not find anything. I've noticed that there is an option to publish the project, but when I do that and then run the application from Web it throws us security errors like:

Using VS2005 and Team Systems, I use Click Once to build and deploy my Windows Forms application from my desktop onto a network share. On the project's property page on the Signing tab, I check the Sign the ClickOnce manifests check box. The certificate indicates it was issed to and by me with Intended Purpose = <alland an expiration date one year from today. The process deploys the app properly and users can download and install/run it....

Anybody use Strong Name Signing? I think this is used by default for Resource files, which is one reason perhaps I can't get my resource files to work (somehow the public key is messed up, perhaps since I've installed so many versions of Visual Studio) RL http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/h4fa028b.aspx Deployment in Visual Studio

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
