Am I just being thick? XML file - 2 way Data Binding +Encryption

Hi,

I am developing an application and need to make it so the application data
is stored in some manner. I am thinking of an XML file as the data source.
I would like to setup 2 way data binding & also make it so the xml file is
encrypted. I'm using .NET 2.0.

Thanks!

What about the XmlDataSource??

Or whip up a custom data source via the ObjectDataSourc e that reads/writes
as you wish..

Will that work with a windows application, not just ASP.NET?

If you have any examples, or could point me in the right direction, I would
very much appreciate it!!

Chad,

What program language are you using, and than why do you make it difficult
to us, crossposting to the newsgroup C# and VB.Net

In this way we cannot give you any sample.

Woops - I forgot that people still write Windows apps!!

I took a quick look-see, and I don't see any equivalent for WinForms..
although, it wouldn't hurt to try to maybe inherit from one of those
classes - because they are very useful and are probably extensible?? .NET,
especially 2.0 is particularly good for "if you don't see exactly what you
need, you can probably inherit from a class that is close - and make your
own"..

Sorry - good luck!

Sorry for the cross posting, I am programming in C#. However, the reason
for the cross posting is because if I get an example in VB, I can
"translate" it to C#, and vice-versa... That's why I hit the three major
groups that I thought would be able to help out.

Thanks!

Hello, My problem is two fold. 1) I must support a deployed legacy application written in VB6 SP5. I need to export data from a database, compress it and the encrypt the data using 3DES (to prevent tampering) data gets transmitted at night to the home office of my company. Rewriting this application in .NET is not an option as the application was 5 years in development.

I made a key generator according to the specs of a shareware partner so customers can register online. It generates a key from a 'secret' and a combination of name and email / zip and then encrypts with the md5 algorithm. This shareware partner sends the key file in an email to the customer. I'm sorry to ask this perhaps 'stupid' question but: How do I check on my application side if the licence file / bin file is

I have a component that encrypts/decrypts files using Rijndael encryption. The component works flawlessly but I want to try to extend its capablities and this is my general question: I have an "in" and a "out" function. The in function supplys the name of the location of where the file to be encrypted resides and the "out" function specifies the location of where to write the outputed encrypted file. Both function require a string.

Hello, I have developed a web application that connects to 2 different database servers. The connection strings with db username + password are stored in web.config file. After a code review, one developer suggested that it's a security flaw; therefore connection strings should be kept somewhere else or encrypted. My argument is that web.config file is protected by IIS and Windows security which is the case. And another argument is that...

Is there any way to bind a control, say a label, that is not directly associated with the data source? I was reading an article a few days ago that showed how to bind a asp:literal and some string format function to bind data to the literal. The literal was then added to the ?? control container. Unfortunately that is all I remember. I can't find it. Anyway it sounded like a good idea but at the time I was busy and did save it. Hope...

I found this code on a site for doing string encryption/decryption. The string will encrypt fine, but I get this error when I try to decrypt. Any idea why? I posted the code below. The error actually points to this line of code in byte decrypt function: cs.FlushFinalBlock(); public static byte encrypt(byte clearData, byte Key, byte IV)

Here is my problem: I have an application built in Access that outputs sensitive data to a text file. I would like to encrypt this data *whilst* the file is being outputted. The encryption I was using before (very weak) was to encrypt the file *after* the output had been completed but if for some reason the output did halt before being completed; then the text file was able to be read. ....and the encryption needs to be able to be...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
