Making the designer ignore a form / control

Is there any (good) way to stop the designer trying to load a specific
form/control when I double-click it in the solution explorer? Basically, I
have some controls that either use generics or are base (inheritance) forms
best viewed in the code view. I looked at the attributes in
System.Componen tModel, but couldn't find much that helps...

I can add the following before my control declaration, which successfully
stops the designer displaying it (since the designer doesn't like a class to
preceed a form in the source), but it is not very elegant; ideally I want it
to just go straight to the code, as though I had right-clicked and selected
"View Code"

internal class StopDesigner { } // nasty hack to break the designer

Hello all; I'm trying to simulate a "scrollable context menu". What I want is to have a listbox fill the entire area of a small form (with no border). Using the designer and property grid, I noticed that if I set the form size first, then try to copy and paste this value into the size of the listbox (making sure the listbox is in location 0,0 first), the designer won't let the listbox fill the entire form area - there are 9 pixels of...

The form designer adds unnecessary code to the section when using a subclassed control. I've reproduced this in VS.NET 2002 and VS.NET 2003 so it's pretty fundamental. Outline steps: Create a VB project. Create a subclass of a UI control, I used TextBox. Add no code to the subclass. Public Class Component1

I have a problem... Have a form, made some changes.. now all the controls are gone. I didn't make any changes to the designer generated region.. I'm not really sure what happened to them, but this has happened before where one or two will disappear.. They are still in the code too.. And if I try to add a new control with the same name, it says it exists... Any ideas? -- --- Aaron Smith Remove -1- to E-Mail me. Spam Sucks.

Hi, I have a form that when opened in the designer appears of the screen. The form selector can't be dragged (or resized) and if I scroll right and down to centralise it the form simply jumps further away, completely leaving the selector box area. Any ideas? VS 2003 and VB.Net This is a simple application at the moment but the form is inherited from a

This BUG that is so ridiculous I can't believe they shipped 05 is making my life hell. I have tried the various solutions found on the web and none of them have worked thus far. What's even more troublesome is that it appears that 05 uses these new partial classes which would makes rolling back to 03 not possible. The error I get when trying to load my Form in the designer is as follows:...

Hi all, Can someone help me with this, please? I've got a user control that (amongst other controls) contains a textbox. The textbox has its Anchor property set to "Left, Top, Right", meaning that it will stretch automatically when the control is resized on a form or other user control. When in design mode I look at the control by itself (rather than dropped on a form) the control has a certain size (let's call this SizeA).

Hi, I have a custom form that works fine when I debug it or run it in release mode but cannot be loaded in the designer... Actually, it can be loaded in the designer when no control is on it, but the resizing tool (in the designer) is offset both horizontally and vertically and when I put a control on it, as soon as I save, the designer throws an exception (but cannot be reproduced everytime) and the form cannot be loaded anymore unless...

Is there a directive or a command to outline code that I want the Designer to ignore? I am creating a group of user controls with extended self-checking functionality. In each user control, I call a self-check function from a Load event handler, which checks ranges or more complex program-related situations at load time and throws up a messagebox and at times changes the control's properties if the situation demands it. This helps our...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
