c# windows form DataGrid and DataSet

Hi,

I am wondering binding the DataGrid to a DataSet in the design time or
binding later on in the run time. Which one is more ideal?
Thanks for help.

I have a windows form that is bound to a datatable. In VB6 I could just update the field contents and it would be updated in the database, however if I update the text property of the control from code it is 50% chance that the update will make it back to the dataset. If I update the dataset instead of the form, it does not show on the form. Is there a method that should be used?

Hi I'm having a great deal of difficulty doing a very simple thing. This is what I want to do. On a Windows Form - NO DATAGRID.... I have various text boxes, into which I want to show fields and etc. from the row. I want to connect to SQL Server, open a table and retrieve a specific row (or create it if it's not there) and show the fields in the form. I want to add or modify data in the form, then upload the change to the SQL server.

Hello all, I'm trying to display a dataset into a datagrid and format the datagrid columns but I'm having a hard time with it. I've tried the MSDN examples but they don't seem to work. Basically, what I want to do is that, on a button click, the dataset fills up dynamically, binds to the datagrid, and displays the data. This is my code: mySql = "select itemID, OrderDate " +

My project consists of one form and one standard microsoft datagrid. In code and not by binding, I create a sqlconnection, sqlAdapter and dataset. When the form is displayed I have to click on the datagrid to display the result of my query. I cannot get the datagrid to automatically show the result on the form. In other words you need to click the grid twice to display the results. Is this how the grid works? Surely not. Can somebody help?...

Hi, I have a simple input form that i use to add records to a sql server database. Bellow that is a datagrid that has one template column that I use to dispaly the 3 fields with some html formating. the datagrid also has paging. I'm doing a ASP.NET guestbook. I know some things could be improved like adding some error handling and caching the dataset instead of querying the database on every page load....but I'm still working on the...

I have a datagrid on a parent mdi form with connection1, dataAdapter1, dataset1. From a main menu I call a child form where I enter new data and update dataset1 with dataAdapter2, connection2 on the child form, but the same dataset (dataset1). The data is stored in a sql server DB and is being stored correctly, but the new record is not being displayed in the datagrid on the parent form. If I close the app and re-open it, I can see the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
