Overriden attribute does not work on overriden methods

My control inherites from ScrollableContr ol and overrides the BackColor
property. The DescriptionFrom Attribute inherits from the
DescriptionAttr ibute to return localized information. The same for the
CategoryFrom.
_______________ _______________ ________

[CategoryFrom("B ehavior"), DescriptionFrom ("BackColorDesc ription"),
DefaultValue(ty peof(Color), "Color.WhiteSmo ke")]
public override Color BackColor
{
...
}

_______________ _______________ ________
The definition of the DescriptionFrom class is (for your information):

_______________ _______________ ________

public class DescriptionFrom Attribute :
System.Componen tModel.Descript ionAttribute
{
public DescriptionFrom Attribute(strin g attribute) : base(attribute)
{
this.attribute = attribute;
}

protected string attribute;
public override string Description
{
get
{
return this.Descriptio nValue = Resources.GetSt ring(attribute) ;
}
}

}
}
_______________ _______________ ________
These inherited attributes work well for user-defined properties and do
return localized information but not for overriden properties. Is it a
bug or is it my code?
Thanks for your help.

Hi In the following code sample, I have: - a Worker class, which could have a lot of methods and attributes. In particular, it has a 'bar' attribute. This class can be modified as needed. - a Base class (old-style) which defines a default class attribute 'bar' too. I can't modify the source code of this class. Note that Workes does not inherit from Base. - a Derived class which must inherit from Base and is a wrapper around Worker: it...

I have the situation where I need to construct the name of a static method, and then retrieve the corresponding function from a class object. I thought I could just use __getattribute__ for this purpose. This works fine if I already have an instantiation of the class, but not when I try this on the class object directly. A bare bones example:

Here is a hack to implement attribute access (say for a Web framework) the way I always wanted it to be. I say "hack" since it uses sys._getframe and it sets the locals of a class, which is not recommended. Still, it seems to work. I post the recipe here since since I would like to know if 1. it really works; 2. if yes, is there a chance that it will not work in future versions of Python; 3. will it work under Jython? Even if it turns...

This is a question about Python patterns or idioms. Over a period of time, I have evolved a pattern of usage that seems to work better for me than other ways I tried previously, but in writing some documentation I don't know what to call this syntax or how best to describe it. I have not seen it used in other places. The somewhat longish version is that I have implemented an MVP (model-view-presenter) architecture where each "presenter"...

Hello: I am encountering a very weird issue with MDI child, Overriden WndProc function and hidden form. Basically, the application has two forms, Form1(parent form), Form2(Child form), Form2's WndProc method is overriden, if the message is CLOSE message, just hide the form. I first initialize and show the child form, then close it by clicking the Close(X) button, the overriden WndProc method gets invoked, and the form is hidden. Then

I have an odd business requirement and I think that the implementation is not correct in the terms of OOP development. Any help on the concepts would be very appreciated! We currently have a custom Page object which is derived from the base Page object. We also have custom controls that derive from a base class that performs custom drawing and inherits from our own IOurControl interface. There is also a special caching layer in the mix...

As an exercise I'm attempting to write a metaclass that causes an exception to be thrown whenever a user tries to access 'attributes' (in the traditional sense) via a direct reference. Consider: class X( object ): y = 'private value' def get_y( self ): return self.y

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
