Which handle are you looking for?

As for starting another program, you can use the static Start method on
the Process class to do this.

Hope this helps.

In my "main" code, I would like to create two new objects (ObjectA and ObjectB) and have ObjectA directly call an ObjectB method. In order to do this I believe ObjectA must hold a reference to ObjectB. What about the name of the method? Must it be hardcoded in ObjectA?

Hi, I've got a question about whether there are any issues with directly calling attributes and/or methods of a threaded class instance. I wonder if someone could give me some advice on this. Generally, the documentation suggests that queues or similar constructs should be used for thread inter-process comms. I've had a lot of success in doing that (generally by passing in the queue during the __init__ of the thread) and I can see...

I'm trying to write some C++ library routines callable by C. The functions are declared extern "C" but I'm getting the loader complaining it can't resolve new() and delete(). Am I just missing a library or is the C++ runtime environment also an issue? Compiling the C program as a C++ program seems to work but I'd rather have the library look like a plain C library. -- Joe Seigh

Hello, I have implemented a small library with a function a datatype to manage temporary storage, and handle out correctly casted storage. The function to get a double pointer is for instance: double * work_get_double(work_type *work, size_t size) {} Now, if the work area is not sufficiently large, the function fails,

I have a multi-threaded C# console application that uses WMI (System.Management namespace) to make RPC calls to several servers (600+ ) and returns ScheduledJobs. The section of my code that performs the query is contained in a delegate function that I execute via a second thread. On 1 or 2 of the 600+ servers the query hangs. I've tried to use Thread.Join() coupled with a Thread.Abort() but this does not kill the thread. Based on...

I'm using a library called fyba. This library reads and writes files in a format called sosi. fyba uses the following code to determine if the calling process has own methods to handle errors, messages, etc: // If this parameter is NULL, // GetModuleHandle returns a handle of the file used // to create the calling process. hInstExe = GetModuleHandle( NULL ); if( hInstExe!=NULL )

This is a follow-on from the "Help with array/pointer segmentation fault needed" thread.. I have not been able to find much information on the rules for macros. I want to be able to call a macro from outside it's definition which I am fairly sure I have seen done before. This code works: #define TEST(where, dimension, ptr) \ printf ("\tAll %s in %s values: ",where, dimension); \ pointer = mArray; \ while (pointer!=NULL) { \ printf...

I have a Python script which is used to load data into a database. Up to now this script has been run by customers from the Windows command prompt using "python edg_loader.pyc". Any error messages generated are written to a log file. A project team working in the same company as me here would like to use this loading utility. They write UI applications for Windows using Java. They were able to launch the Python script from within Java by...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
