Hi, I'm new to C# and I'd like to be able to reference a field of an object using a variable instead of literal text. In the PHP scripting language, you can create a variable: $var = "name"; and another variable: $name = "Epson"; Then you can refer to $name, or $$var. They will equal the same thing.

Has anyone seen an example of a textbox server control that has built-in client-side validation? I'd like to build a server control that extends the System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox class to allow javascript checks for things like valid e-mail addresses or phone numbers (without having to add a separate control for validation). One idea I did some work on was having the control implement the IValidator interface and basically recreating...

In the Page_Load() of my webForm, I have the following code, and on my HTML button, the onclick button calls writeVal() (the javascript function). When I click on the button, I see the messagebox from the Alert(), but the server-side Textbox text is not set to 'TEST'. I get a javascript error saying, "document.getElementById(...) is null or is not an object.". What could the problem be? The textbox is inside a Wizard control. Here's the...

I'm sorry, but I've read your code a couple of times and just don't see where the Form1 is initialized. Form1 also sounds like a class name, and this would be how you could do some form operations in vb6, but not in .Net. This would explain why the messagebox works, as it is not instantiated, but called statically as you did in your code. I think you need this where your MsgBox is called: dim ui as New Form1() ui.txt_rec.Text =...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
