Don't know if a DataList would really help.

I'm not sure what I'd recommend.

My first thought would be to use 2 columns in your grid: the first would be for the "column name" and the second would be a TemplateField. I would try playing with binding options in the TemplateField to get your desired output....

Or you could try using a sub-GridView in the TemplateField that you would bind to the data source.

I'm not suggesting this will be easy and I don't even know if what I'm recommending will help.

I have had to create a Grid that had ColumnHeaders and RowHeaders. At the time I wasn't that adventurous with binding and sub-controls...so I created 2 GridViews: one for displaying the row headers, the other for displaying the data.

I have no "sample code" to share with you......to give you sample code would mean that I would have to do the thinking for you...do your work for you! How fair is that?

Did I not mention that this is not an easy task to accomplish?
That I wasn't sure if what I was suggesting would work?
That you should play with this until you found something that worked?

I gave you a couple of ideas on what you could try.
Please think about what I suggested and try something.

When you get stuck on the technique you're trying then we can help you further...or you could try something else.

Are you confused about what I suggested?

Do you know what a TemplateField is?
If you don't then use the MSDN Library and check out the documentation for the TemplateField.

I'm sorry if this came across a little harsh but the reality is that I love to help people but I get insulted when people ask me to do their work for them.

I've never used a DataList before but the other night I took a look at it since DaveRook recommended it...apparently it has a property to change the direction from vertical to horizontal.

Check out the DataList Class.
DataList Class:
...The display direction of a DataList control can be vertical or horizontal. Set the RepeatDirection property to specify the display direction.

The layout of the DataList control is controlled with the RepeatLayout property. Setting this property to RepeatLayout.Table will display the DataList in a table format, while RepeatLayout.Flow displays the DataList without a table structure...
