Custom Error Pages in Web.Config

147 100+
Hello

I have set up the custom error section in my web.config file. I create a link on my webpage called link and when I click on it, my page404.aspx?aspxerrorpath=page-doesnt-exist.aspx is shown!

Brilliant!!

However, if I look for pdf link and page.pdf doesn't exist on the server, it takes the browser almost 1 minute to get to the 404 page. Not only that, it also doesn't render the page correctly (it can't find the relative paths at a guess). Lastly, the URL doesn't change but still displays a CSS-less version of the 404page.aspx

I was under the impression a 404 page is for page not found and file not found? Is there something I've missed or should my 404page only use absolute links. If so, how do I set this up as the page uses the web.config for the pages theme.

Thanks

Dave
