Drop Down Lists Countries Code

Hi all,

Can anyone here explain me how to make a dropdownlist for countries... i.e i want to make a ddl having list of countries .... as the user select a country from that ddl the name of the states of that country only is displayed in the next ddl... and similarly when the user selects the name of the state.... citynames are displayed in the third ddl.....So can it be explained to me how to do that..... Please

You are going to need 3 database tables for this to work.

The first is a "Country" table. It should have an ID number, and a name.

The second is a "State" table. It should have an ID number, a name, and a CountryID, that is equal to the country it belongs to.

The third is a "City" table. It should have an ID number, a name, and a StateID, that is equal to the state it belongs to.

Then you're going to have to make a SqlDataSource for each of these tables, and bind them to your DDLs. Make the state one take the country id as a parameter, and the city take the state as a parameter.

Well, I can't explain it any clearer. You need a basic understanding of databases to do this.
