freeze column headings

Is there a way to mimic the behavior in Excel, for a Gridview, to freeze the
column headers/titles, so that they show, as you scroll down the gridview?

this can be done with css and some clever javascript. there should be some
3rd versions or look at jQuery plugins, there are several free ones there.
