They never made a version prior to 2.0. I cannot remember whether this was
due to necessary classes or just because few people were still using 1.1,
but to the best of my knowledge they have not and will not make one for 1.1
(especially now that it is built into 3.5). My recommendation would be to
upgrade to upgrade to 2.0 (or if your webhost or server supports it, 3.5).
Most of the stuff in 1.1 can be simply copied without much need for extra
effort. Also, although I have not moved to Visual Studio 2008 yet (and so
have obviously not tried this feature, assuming my understanding of it is
correct), I have been told that you can simply open a project that uses one
version of .NET (including 1.1) and then save it as a new project that uses
a different version, and it will do the conversion for you (maybe not
replace the deprecated classes with the recommended ones, but I'm sure
that's not currently your biggest concern), therefore making the transition
much easier. There was a much bigger difference between 1.1 and 2.0 then
there is between 2.0 and 3.5 (and probably will be between 3.5 and the next
version), so if you continue to delay upgrading, you will probably be
causing yourself a lot of unnecessary pain. Just my recommendation.
