Please help - default website has "http://blah/_1" being created!

Folks,
Hope that you can help me here. Just a quick question. I as using IIS
5.1 and can download a web service from SourceSafe onto my developers
box.
Let call the project "WebServiceA"

However my system will not all to create the default website:
http://localhost/WebServiceA but rather creates as default:
http://localhost/WebService_1

When I try to change it back it says:

The error message I get is: "One or more of the projects destnation
path are invalid. To open this solution, you must specify valid paths
for each project. The error returned was "The web at http://localhost/WebServiceA"
already contains a project. You need to choose another location for
you Web project"

I also noticed that at the path: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot

it create another project called: "WebService_1" for some reason.

Now, I'm confused!! Does anyone know why this is occuring? Can
you help me please? Any ideas/comments/suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks,
Al.
