Unable to post to this group

This is the second time in a few weeks that I write posts that never
show up in the group.
Is there something wrong with this group? Does anyone have similar
experiences?

What are you all using to read and write posts in news groups? I use
Google Groups but I'm getting suspicious of its quality...

Always go right to the source. Point Outlook Express, or another news
reader, to news.microsoft.com. When using another service to post, you're
not actually guaranteed to get a message here. Even an ISP's news server may
not push the message up to the actual ms news servers.

I suspect the problem is at your end (with your news server or client). I
see posts from you dated 7/25. 7/24, 7/20 and several from 7/19.
There are responses to all of them, as well.

I am cc'ing this to your email in case you cannot see your post or this
response via your news server/client.

If you are using OE as your news client, try resetting this group and
re-downloading all headers.

I am unable to use Outlook Express at the company I'm working at...
they don't allow it and told me to use some online tool if I need
newsgroups.
Hence I turned to Google Groups. Do you have a suggestion for an
alternative, if only to determine whether Google is the problem or
not.

Indeed I have been successful in posting messages in the past...
sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Hi Hans,

I've had tons of problems with Google Groups over the last two or so weeks,
so I started hitting the Micorsoft news server via Outlook Express. I
believe the news server name is msnews.microsoft.com, and you can use any
news reader. I enjoy Google News because I can search all news entries
going back literally to 1981 while local news is more the last week or two
(or however log the reader keeps the messages), but in the case where Google
fubars, using a local reader should get you in.

Hope this helps --

Alex

Hi Froefel,

I just saw your note about not being able to use News Readers, so scratch my
last post about Outlook Express. Microsoft does offer a web-based reader
for their newsgroups here -
http://www.microsoft.com/communities...s/default.aspx -
but it sucks IMO. It's clunky and not very easy to use, but it's there if
you need it.

HHT,

Interestingly enough... I've tried posting my message with the
crippled and ridiculously disfunctional MS groups reader you
mentioned, amd it doesn't show up either, even though I get a
confirmation message from miscrosoft.
This always seems to happen when I'm posting C# code as part of my
message. I'm starting to wonder whether certain characters are causing
the problem, such as curly braces or semicolons or something.

No, your posts with code are on the news server. As I told you previously,
your posts are making it to the newsgroup, but you seem unable to see them.
Have you tried a Google Groups Advanced Search, specifying "Froefel" as the
sender?

Hmm, Odd. I never used the MS web-based reader really, so not sure.

Another option is you could run your own web-based reader maybe at home, and
remote into it via web or Telnet/SSH. You could do it via Linux or even
Windows. If you're an old-school BBSer you can download Synchronet BBS
(www.syncro.net) and it has built in Newsgroup server and client to pull
from your home ISP's server. Then using either the web server or even
Telnet you can remote in and hit the newsgroups. Plus doing it this way you
could also have access to various BBS networks (DoveNet, Fidonet, etc).

A very round about way of doing this, but it'd work...

I noticed this too, many of my posts didn't appear in google groups, but
they did once I hit the newsgroups via another server.
