Dynamic axd image without web.config

Hi, I am writing a web custom control that displays a dynamically generated
image. Apparently I need to register an HTTP handler in web.config. Is there
any way to register the handler programmatically to avoid messing with
web.config?

Thanks

Hi,

For a custom extension, you will have to use IIS and web.config to
configure the http handler:

#How to: Register HTTP Handlers
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...fy(VS.80).aspx

However, for your requirement, creating a dynamic image doesn't necessary
need a custom http handler, a WebForm (.aspx) could also generate dynamic
image. Another way is to use a simple http handler (*.ashx) which doesn't
require you to modify web.config since it's already mapped and registered).
Following article has examples of both:

Hope this helps.
