sql job agent

I have a web form that connects to a db server and shows all the jobs in the
sql server agent, I'm able to pick a job to run and run it, and then i call
sp_help_job to get the status of the job. Is there a way to get which step is
running and show that in a progress bar?

example

step 1 processing . . . .
step 1 complete..

step 2 processing. . .
step 2 complete

and so one for each step in the job being ran

you can have the steps log to sysjobstepslogs, which you can query. you
could also write your logging using notification services.

doing something like this against SQL is totally new to me. I have about 85%
of it completed but showing which step is running and completed. Is there
something I can look at either a web or windows app would work just for
getting the name of the step or step number that is running.
