problem after rebuilding PC

Hi,

I have had to rebuild my dev machine and after reinstalling everything i get
this odd message when i try to build my web site in VS2005.net

Error 1 It is an error to use a section registered as
allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error
can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application
in IIS. C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\myXfilms\aspnet_client\gridex\W eb.config 38
I have checked the IIS server on my local machine and the virtual directory
is setup as an application..

What does this message mean.. and how can i fix it...

Thanks

In this case (as in most) the exception message is very clear.
You have a page or pages executing from a folder that needs to be marked in
IIS as an Application.

Hello Aussie,

As Peter and Mark has mentioned, the error message indicate that the
current running ASP.NET application's IIS virtual directory is not marked
as application. From your description, you're checked that the virtual dir
is marked as application, so I'd like to confirm the following things first:

1. Are you getting this exception right at when you try running the
application(start visiting any page in this ASP.NET web application)?

2. From the exception info, the problem web.config is at the following path:

C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\myXfilms\aspnet_client\gridex\W eb.config

so is the "gridex" folder's corresponding IIS virtual dir marked as
"Application" ? If not, you need to mark this virtual dir as application.

Please feel free to let me know if you have anything unclear or if you get
any new finding.
Sincerely,

Steven Cheng
