Custom serialization in object

Hello,
I Know that if I add a [Serializable] attribute to a class of mine
I can save this class to the viewstate...

I would like to "change" the default serialization process
and save (or restore) custom data (instead of the whole class or
some attributes), but I would like
to manage all of this only inside my object, without
changing web pages (in these pages I have to use
ViewState["key"] = CustomObject and
CustomObject = ViewState["key"]

some ideas?
Thanks!!!!
..::M::.
