setting up a web.config file to point to an ODBC datasource

I am trying to set up my web.config file so that my application will point to
an already established microsoft Access ODBC datasource. I can't find any
examples of how to do this. The examples I have found show how to set up a
clause called <connectionString>. However, when I try to run the application,
it tells me it doesn't know what that tag means. Can someone point me in the
right direction please?
