Is Sql server proficient needed for .net programmers?

Hi dotnet developers,
I am Ravindra currently on job trials my Query is:
Is sqlserver expertise needed for .net programmers?

It depends on the project and your responsibility. A .Net project need
not use SQL Server, it can use any database technically. But, you need
to have standard sql query language skills to work on any project that
uses a DBMS.

Still, I would guess a large number of database based .Net projects use
SQL Server. So it would be beneficial to learn SQL Server. And again,
this is my personal opinion.
