Click Events in programmatically created GridView Template

I am creating a gridview programmatically and am using a Template for one
column. The template is derived from a custom class that inherits ITemplate.
There are two buttons in the template

The problem that I am encountering is that the button click events for the
two buttons are not captured by the RowCommand of the GridView. I have been
unable to determine a way of capturing the click events for these templated
buttons.

Anyone run into this and know of a way to get the events out to the parent
control?

TIA,

John
