Accessing Exchange Message Stores

Hi there, I'd like to programatically be able to query items in exchange
(journal items to be precise). I believe I probably need to use the CDO.
Is there a tutorial somewhere that will help me do this? I'm on MSDN and
slightly overwhelmed. Application could be .net or plain vanilla vb.

Thanks in advance,
Beth In Alaska.
