Force .doc to be open by Word

fab
Hi,

I'm developping a web-application on an intranet.
I've got a datagrid with a button on each line. Each line represents a
document (MS Word doc). These documents are on a share so that they
can be saved directly on the file server.

When i click on this button, it opens another windows with the word
document linked to the line.
But this document is open into the browser ; so i'd like the document
to be open by MS Word (in order to have all the toolbar and menus of
MS Word) so that i can modify and save it.
The most surprising is that when i cut/paste the address of the doc in
the IE address bar (\\myFileServer\myFolder\myDoc.doc) it open MS
Word...

How can i do to open MS Word with the address of my share ?

Thanks in advance.

This is a default behavior of IE and Word. You can get around the
situation by either modifying the client settings or using script.

The following article explains both:
